Ableist Word Profile: Crazy

I’ve called out several people for using ‘crazy.*’ Unfortunately, it’s a word I hear all of the time. People on my various blog rolls/flists/circles, MLs at NaNo, family, court officers, etc have all used it, and have gotten a tongue lashing from me whenever I was able.

So I was thrilled when I saw that FWD’s Ableist Word Profile today was for the word ‘crazy.’ I’m asking all of you to read it, and really work on getting it out of your vocab. Because it does hurt me, and I flinch whenever I read/hear/see it.*

* using ‘crazy’ in a reclamatory way is a-ok, though, and not what I’m referring to here.
