Well, I think we've finished most of our Christmas shopping, thankfully. Even though I'm pagan, I attend family gatherings for the holiday, so presents for the kids are a must. Presents = cost cash = no food for the rest of the month. The worst part? It's worth it, since I know they'll like what we got them.
I also went with my mom to pick out a Christmas outfit for my sister (thirteen) to wear to Midnight Mass. While we were looking through clothes, I saw a short-sleeved sweater number, and I thought to myself that I had to buy it for someone, even though I couldn't figure out who, exactly. It took me awhile to realize that I'd been picturing Uhura in it, not anyone I knew. @_@;;
Speaking of Midnight Mass, I'm being dragged to it with the rest of my family. It should be bummery, but actually it just might turn out to be a ball. One year my grandmother caught the church on fire, and another year she stole from baby Jesus. My wife's only been to Catholic mass a hand full of times, so she finds the whole thing strange and amusing. My dad doesn't sing, my grandpa doesn't stand, and we never can find enough places for the whole family to sit, so we end up trying to stage whisper to one another from three pews away. It's great. Here's to hoping this year will be just as interesting.
Oh, and man, I started doing one of those ten name memes (where you select ten characters and then they ask you to write fifteen word drabbles about the characters), and I may have gotten a bit over-excited. I've been re-working them and struggling with them, trying to get them to a decent place in order to post.
I know the point is supposed to be to do something fun on the fly, but they've become a challenge all on their own. One that I'm failing miserably at, since I sorta gave up on the fifteen word limitation. Oh well, at least it'll be fun.
