Misogyny In Harry Potter Fandom - Lily Evans Edition

New Required Reading: "In Defense of Lily Evans" by randomness

So, I found this essay through Fandom Wank, and man, am I glad I did. In it, randomness goes into all of the points that make me want to hit things when it comes to the Lily and Severus relationship. Rarely do I see Lily given the kudos she deserves for being one BAMF, but this essay goes a long way in identifying and negating some of the reasons people can't see her that way. Read it, it's awesome.

Just don't get me started on how BAMF the other female characters in HP are, since I could rant for hours. ((I care about the issue so much I ranted on my honest-to-god RL facebook about it. I even snarked at my RL friends about it after HBP, despite them being otherwise incredibly feminist.))

Also: I would give my left leg for a HP version of where_no_woman -- if there is one, and I don't know about it, anyone wanna link me?

And yes, I get the irony of posting about the awesomeness of HP women while using a Dumbledore and Snape icon. X_X;;
