Star Trek XI: Lens Flare Fiction Challenge
I should probably offer some sort of explanation for this post, but there isn't one, not really. After seeing HBP I was teasing my wife about the fact that Star Trek XI was superior, due solely to the vast amounts of lens flare. One thing led to another, and I ended up realizing that there wasn't much lens flare in Trek fics. Clearly this situation needs to be rectified. And so my latest challenge was born.
The Star Trek XI Lens Flare Fiction Challenge
We all love lens flare. There's currently nothing sillier, more camp, or more Trek:Reboot than eight minutes of blinding light on the screen. To sweeten the deal, there are a million and twelve ways to introduce silly lens flare insanity into fics.
The Lens Flare Challenge is prompting you guys to do just that. Write a fic (100 words or more) where lens flare plays a prominent role. It can be crack, serious, angst, slash, gen, AU, whatever. Spock can be confused by readings that are inaccurate due to flare, the crew can be blinded by it and crash their ship, it can be used to kill vampire Klingons, etc. Play with the concept, guys! Just make it Reboot, and make it flare.
You have two weeks to write your fics and post a link up here (crosspost like mad, go for it). After the deadline, we'll have some voting for the best fics, and the winners will get specialized banners. A master list will be crafter and pimped, and all will be well with the world. So get writing!

Anything Else?
- Please include whether or not there are any warnings for your fic in the comment you post here. For the purposes of this challenge, warnings will consist of common triggers (including but not limited to: abuse, non-con, dub-con, substance abuse, incest, self-harm, extreme violence, eating disorders, character death).
- It would be appreciated if squicks were warned for. Common squicks include, but are not limited to: scat, watersports, bestiality, hardcore BDSM, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, etc. Use your discretion here, please.
