Final Big Bang Rec Post, I Swear

Jun 04, 2009 13:23

Piggy-backing on my last post, I managed to stumble upon another Big Bang-style community:

I'm thinking of signing-up, for a few reasons.

a) Most of the big bang-style events that I'm interested in aren't happening for about a year.
b) It gives me a chance to be indecisive about fandoms until the last second.
c) It'd give me an excuse to write big or flail trying.
d) A community of other folks doing it, yay!

Of course, there are a few drawbacks, mostly on the reveal/posted side of things. Unlike a fandom/character-specific Big Bang, there's a lot of variation in the 'who-knows-what' area. It's less likely to produce a large grouping of things I'd like to read, and could be hit-or-miss in terms of artists, etc.

The plus-side to this is that it's multi-fandom. I could talk to people in other fandoms, see larger works in areas I don't normally read (but am still interested in), and have a chance to brave a fandom I might not otherwise consider (too many people in a specialized area of fandom can intimidate n00bs, even those who have months to research and learn).

I'm leaning towards doing it, but that might just be my lack of sleep talking (I didn't sleep well last night...two and a half hours = yay insomnia).

So I dunno, what do you guys think? Should I? Shouldn't I?

If I did, would anyone like to join me (I know there are several BB's out right now, so I doubt I can con too many of you into joining the insanity, but even one's better than none).

ETA: Don't worry, I didn't forget about With Different Hats. The third chapter should be out soon -- I'm coordinating my LJ posting dates with those on The Hex Files, so I'm waiting to hear back from the wonderful mods there (and seriously, guys, the mods there are thorough and amazing -- they deserve eight hundred pounds of cookies). ^^
