1.2 - What is the one moment that most changed your muse?

Surely you jest.

What is our life but a series of moments? We move from one moment to the next and especially those of us who are essentially Immortal. How can any one thing, any one event influence those of us whose lives span centuries?

To be fair and to begin at the beginning, I would say that it was the moment I discovered that the death of my mother, my acceptance into the Sidhe Court, especially the acknowledgement by both the Queen of Air and Darkness, and my father, Gan Ceanach, my ascension as a Noviate and Initiate on the Fortunate Island were all a part of an elaborate scheme by my foster mother, Morgienne. To have everything you have ever done, to have everything snapped in half in a single realizing instant - it cannot be described. Any semblance of purity of intent or innocence that I may have had up until that moment were slain at my feet. I stood over the body of what was that wide eyed, trusting and dutiful child-priestess, covered in her blood. The ground was littered with the broken shards of everything that she ever believed before that moment. In her place stood the like form of a young woman who had been implanted with the very seeds of vengeance. The coming months would see to the germination and the full and proficient bloom that rendered asunder all that stood in the way of her ambition and quest for Power. My eyes were at last open.

"What will you do?" my friend asked me. Her face was full of worry and sadness at learning what I had overheard from the lips of Morgienne herself.

I did not reply for a long moment. My mind was still spinning with the new-found knowledge and trying to determine what my foster mother's intentions had been and what my options actually were. I was determined that I would no longer be Morgienne's dupe, but neither could I give away any hint that I knew what I did. My path, from this moment, would be one I would have to tread most carefully. The last thing I could afford was to trust anyone outside of myself.

"I haven't thought that far ahead," I said, half truthfully, "but don't concern yourself, Ivy. There is much more to worry about, such as the coming war between the Sidhe Kingdoms. Somehow we will pitched in this, and my troubles will be the least of our worries."

That part had been true. War was coming, but I had little inkling before this moment how the unwitting people of the Fortunate Island were being thrust into a situation that they had little to no awareness of or preparation for.

"Morginenne will be looking for us soon," Ivy plucked up the basket of herbs that we had been gathering as part of our day's chores, "do you think you can be as near to her as you have been without...you know, giving yourself away?" On that pale face framed by luxurious curls I saw what may have been genuine concern. She and I had been friends almost immediately after I had come to live on the Isle. Even with all of the history, I still would not permit myself to trust even Ivy.

"Aye," I nodded, "that is the one thing about our training, we know how to keep our intentions and our thoughts concealed if need be."

"Even from Morgienne?"

I nodded again, "Even from Morgienne."

In the coming weeks and months what had taken root with me saw my usurpation of the Throne of the Fortunate Island, the destruction of Morgienne, my foster mother and mentor and the beginning of the Fae Wars. I cannot say that I am sorry that I learned the truth or for any action that I did on behalf of myself or the Island. Within this single moment, the only real currency in all Seven Realms of Existence, I found, was the currency of Power. I fully intended to not only understand it as much as anyone could but to wield it rather than to be wielded by it.
