Technology is not your friend

Argh! Stupid National Library. All I want is 8 measly articles to read, and can I request them? Can I heck. "Please contact a librarian," it says. croydonjohn, you're a librarian, any ideas? I would go up and see the librarians at the National Library, but the whole point of their magic computer system being available on the internet is that I can sit here with a cup of tea and order up the things I want to read, and then go up and read them a couple of hours later when they've had chance to find them for me. If I go up there and order the things, ably assisted, I'm sure, by the librarian I've contacted, then I've got to wait around for at least an hour and I don't have that sort of time to waste! Gah. I wanted to read the articles this afternoon so I could get on with writing the essay tomorrow! Now it looks like I'll have to go up and spend half of tomorrow in the NLW trying to get hold of the articles before I can read them, because I've got a dozen other things to do today. Annoying is not the word!

Pleasingly, though, this hasn't ruined my good mood for the day, which was boosted this morning by the arrival of post from my grandparents. I sent them a CD of pictures of Aber to look at, and received the following this morning:

Thank you for the CD. You achieved some super pictures - unfortunately we got into a muddle in operating the computer - call it a very senior moment - & we pressed a few wrong buttons & haven't seen all of the scenes yet but will get there eventually. Unfortunately the PC was due to explode after 2 hours!

God bless my technophobic grandparents! The mind boggles as to what "wrong buttons" they managed to press!
