Hot Springs Connector
Continuing the last post...
Ran today, Cold Springs Ridge up to the catwalk, trying to find the connector to Hot Springs Trail. I know there's a connection, but wasn't sure where.
Went up from the catwalk on upper Cold Springs trail. Found a Right fork shortly, with a big metal "NO TRESPASSING PRIVATE PROPERTY" sign. Perhaps that's not it... so I continued up a couple miles, until it became obvious that I was headed up to the CS saddle. Back down to that fork and passed the sign, THE MAN be damned.
The trail was the one I'd remembered, although quite grown over. Came out at the upper hot spring pools; small, but warm and Sulphuric. The trail continued around the bend down to the old Hotel ruins, bamboo and pipes everywhere. (NOTE: future exploration around the ruins would be fun). Passed the ruins to the lower catwalk, which became the Hot Springs trail itself (i.e. led out past rich peoples' driveways down to Mountain Drive).
So. The route mapped. Next tasks here: branches of Hot Springs (including the catwalk past the ruins, where it bears right and up the canyon); catwalk from middle cold springs down toward hot springs.
