it's not new. a distraught pet owner desires to recreate a life that has recently died. what will money and technology do for us? society? we do not yet have the wisdom to cope with the possibilities that technology has allowed us to achieve. so recklessly, in the persuit of happiness (which in a capitalist world, is money and what it can acquire in its exchange) we strive for the greater good for ourselves ignoring the consequences that will befall later.
contrary to what adam smith believed, not always does the persuit that is benefical of an individual also benefits the whole (society).
for every action, there is a reaction. and for every good that can be accomplished, an evil, a perversion of it can also be accomplished.
