Living for the present
So go for it, stupid girl
Take that drug, stupid girl
Give it a whirl, stupid girl
Is what I said when it mattered
Time slowed and she shattered
And like Humpty Dumpty
I couldn't pick up the pieces to fix her.
I didn't know things would go wrong
When I handed her the pills
And she swallowed and swallowed
Until she'd had her fill
At first she was fine
Nestled in the couch by my side
But it was decieving
How fast she was leaving
And that drug took that girl for a ride.
So go for it, stupid girl
Take that drug, stupid girl
Give it a whirl, stupid girl
Now her breathing is raspy
Her face is pale and covered in sweat
In her heart she knows
Her fate has been set
Things become blurry
Like looking through a smashed mirror
Dozens of flashing images
Magnifying her fear.
10 times she says:
"Let me live...Oh God, let me live,
I'll be good I promise
I'll be daddy's little angel
His beacon of light.
If you just let me live
I can make things right."
Her fingers tighten around the blankets
Jaw chattering again
I shake her once and scream, "Talk to me"
And she does...
But she speaks right through me
Her words drifting in and out
Nonsensical, fantastical
I'm not sure what it's about
So go for it, stupid girl
Take that drug, stupid girl
Give it a whirl, stupid girl
Now she lies on the bed
Tomorrow six feet under
Because of one simple mistake
One single solitary blunder
A bright eyed girl lost her life
And was raped of all her purity
With the pop of a pill...
The lights are out...
