Astro camers build

The camera is basically a low Lux (.05) CCD Day/Night camera with the lens removed and mounted in a 1.25" tube to allow it to be inserted into a telescope in place of the eyepiece.

The basic structure is a copper pipe union and some rubber "O" rings. The "O" rings are simply to hold the camera in the corrent place and prevent it from falling in too far.

The camera was glued in place using Epoxy and the area around the CCD painted flat black.

After taking the first solar pictures I found it was having a problem with light rings in the image. It was producing a circular pattern in the image.

After looking into the CCD area further I found that there was still some silver metal exposed that cauld be creating stray light. It is now all flat black. I also discovered that there was a glass filter on top of the actual CCD. I'm guessing that this is a standard infrared filter used on all standard cameras. This has now been removed. We'll see what happens this weekend when the paint is good and dry.
