How MY Valentines Day went:
Place: At home on the couch where I hand him a huge pink Toblerone bar.
Me: "Here babes, your favorite chocolates in your favorite colour! (ok maybe not his favorite colour)"
Rowan (with a guilty look on his face): "aww gee thank you, but um I didn't get you anything!!"
Granted my bday just passed where we went out for a lovely meal and we are busy organizing our trip to Mexico this wknd.
Me: "It's all good, I just saw them at the store and knew you loved this stuff."
Rowan (his face is sort of matching the Toblerone bar): "Well everyday is Valentines Day to me darling, we don't need one day to celebrate that and you know it's a day created by..."(of course this is out of guilt)
Me: "AHHHHH!!!! ......YEAHYAHYAHYAH i know i know! Created by Hallmark, mass produced BS created by evil marketing suits, but I still dig it!! I love flowers, chocolates, and pink and red, candies, and sugar, hearts, and cute stuffed little bears which you toss in the closet after the second day. And I think most woman would definitely like one of the things I just listed, so i'm not listening!!" *hands over ears*
Rowan: "Well you know we never celebrate this day anyways...!"
Me: "Yes we do"
Rowan: "We do? What about last year then?"
Me: "We went shopping for cute little gifts for each other at the store remember? And then you took me out to eat at a cozy restaurant".
Rowan: "shit."
Rowan: "um, ok how 'bout the year before then?
Me: "You were away in Vancouver, so you surprised me with a beautiful bouquet"
Rowan: "frig! the year before that?"
Me: "You bought me a huge Carebear because you knew I loved those as a kid, and we went to eat at lovely French restaurant."
Rowan: "oh great. umm...hey! let's not eat overdone steak at some frou frou restaurant, and let me take you out to some delicious Mexican food and get drunk off of nice cold beers to start off our wonderful upcoming trip!!"
lol and that is what we did. The food was delicious, the conversation was wonderful, (he was being extra attentive), the beers and pina colada's put me in the festive mood, and in the end, it turned out to be a pretty romantic evening in an odd sort of way
