Well, it took me two weeks to get through the entire manga, but I've done it \o/ And I'm so glad I did, you know, not only to refresh myself on characterization and plot, but to relive the entire experience again. And what an experience it was :'D Refueling old loves, not only the series as a whole, but characters I had forgotten how much I used to

104: Akutsu and Echizen have a laughing match. This ritual apparently happens sometimes when two players recognize each other's strength :x
---TRUTH!
135: JERKASS ATOBE ALERT
---Talk about worst possible first impressions. Atobe's first introduction had me hating him as well - even though I normally go for the jerks - I could not have imagined the sorcery required for taking him from that to my favourite fictional character possibly of all time.
148: (...) Atobe doesn't just want to win, that'd be boring. His aim is to draw out the match, destroy the shoulder, and Tezuka's tennis career along with it.
---Actually, this is about the point where Atobe started to become endearing to me. Not so much for the douchebaggery, but for his ability to deliberately control the flow of the match and make conscious decisions that could affect his play - I always felt this moment introduces the notion Atobe can change his play style depending on the situation (though, at this point, it's seen as a sadistic decision)
219: Tezuka really likes his lilac. Wisteria. Fuji-iro. Whatever it's called. The color of nobility.
Fuji gets hit in the side of the head and goes temporarily blind. It's a wonder all these kids haven't sustained permanent brain damage yet /:
---Oh Tezuka. Deny it though you might, your love of purple is beyond compare.
Also, good point re: permanent brain damage. If this series is to be believed, the most dangerous sports in the world are:
1. TENNIS
2. Beach Volleyball
3. Bowling
4. Everything else
350: Tezuka's throwing his arm away for his team again. Some call this willpower. Others, stupidity.
---True story, bro.

Death by tennis would be... *cough*tragic :x

Seeing him as a complete panorama instead of a series of isolated snapshots made me love him even more. :)
Indeed, tragic. more or less than death by bowling, though?
