It's 2:42 in the morning. Why is Lizzie still up?
Because she just got back from working on the amazing Snow Sculpture!!
Snow sculpture is an ancient (aka 90 year old?) Dartmouth tradition, where the students build a giant ice / snow sculpture in the middle of the Green. In past years, there have been pirate ships, snowmen, and notable Dartmouth figures - but this year, we have a giant toboggan ramp shaped like a D with Calvin and Hobbes on top and an olympic torch with real fire! It looks awesome right now, and it'll be incredible once all the snow shavings are carted away and the torch is lit. I'm SO excited. ; ) Also, I'm excited that I had a role in it. I joined the snow sculpture committee last term, and I was given somewhat of a leadership role with publicity. I got to send out all-campus blitzes (emails), prints posters, put up posters, and recruit people. Tons of fun, and I got to know some awesome upperclassmen, which is always nice. And then I helped shovel snow a little bit last week, and I put in 3 solid hours of work tonight. I wasn't looking forward to braving the 15 degree weather in the middle of the night, but it was actually really fun and a nice change of pace after studying. The Green is so peaceful at night... the stars were out in full force and you could sense the campus sleeping around you.
Also, I love long underwear and (shocking!) EBA's pizza actually tastes good at 2 in the morning after working outside.
I'll post pictures from Carnival this weekend. I'm planning on doing the polar bear swim (where they literally break a hole in the ice, tie a rope around your waist, and drop you in) and going skating. Plus, Annie is coming up on Friday! YAY!!
Thinking of my TJ buddies.
