I need a class on organization or *something*

Today is my last day on this job, and I'm cleaning up my desk. As I was going through my papers here at work (and discarding most of them) last night, I realized just how much help I need with organization. Even when things look "neat," I'm seldom well-organized. I really want this to change, if only for the time it will save!

But how does one learn to be organized? To have a system that works really well, where you can put your hands on whatever you want in mere moments, whether it's paperwork or a kitchen utensil? Some people just seem to KNOW intuitively how to be organized. But it's not intuitive for me. I was thinking last night about how my mind works: it's the opposite of linear. It bounces around from one topic to another. That's fine if I'm being creative or doing my work, but when asked to document my work, how I got from A to B, I'm often at a loss.

My question is this: are there classes you can take to learn to be organized? Books? Can you hire a person to set up a system for/with you?
