March Bach Marathon on Organlive.com
This week, to celebrate the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, we're digging into the more than 170 hours of recordings of his music and turning our station into an all-Bach organ fest! Since this morning, we've been playing nothing but the music of J.S. Bach, and will continue with this marathon broadcast through most of the week. We expect to get to only about 40% of our library, if we're lucky. During that time you can request your favorite tracks (as long as it's music of Bach) from our most prolific Bach interpreters like George Ritchie, Wolfgang Rübsam, Helmut Walcha, Virgil Fox, E. Power Biggs, Albert Schweitzer, Marie-Claire Alain, Karl Richter, Paul Jacobs, Jean Guillou, or Cameron Carpenter, just to name a few. You'll hear Bach performed on historic instruments from all around the world, as well as orchestral transcriptions brought to life on the organ.
