Hi there.. another newbie here! I just added this community to my friends list and now my first 3 pages of friends antries are from here.. so it'll take me a while to catch up and see what everyone's been reading!
So far this year I've read:
The Book of Lost Things by Joh Connelly
The Story of O by Pauline Reage
and am currently re-reading (does re-reading count?) Chapterhouse Dune by Frank Herbert.
The Book of Lost Things was really good, fairy tale like. I like fairy tales and monsters and magic... it was quick reading though.
The Story of O was recommended by a friend. I read it but actually wasn't as impressed as they seemed to think I would be. Again, quick reading.
Chapterhouse: Dune is wonderful. It will come to light that I am a full on Frank Herbert geek, helplessly consuming all literature by or about him that crosses my path. I love the Dune series very much, and recently Franks son, Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson (of Star Wars novel fame) have been writing the prequels, histories and sequels based on the detailed notes Frank left before he died. However, after I read Chapterhouse last time, they did 3 prequels, 3 histories and now they've done "Chapterhouse 2" Hunters of Dune, but it's so long ago since I read the final Dune books that I reread Heretics of Dune and am now just finishing Chapterhouse. The whole Dune universe tranfixes me. I love it. So I'll soon be on Hunters, and that will take me ages because I'll need to savour every little word. But then I'll be back onto regular reading again!!!
Take care and happy reading,
Amy x
