Tropical Storm Ondoy (Ketsana) hit the Philippines with a month’s worth of rain on Saturday, causing massive flash floods all over Metro Manila. Friends and colleagues of mine have had their homes flooded and their belongings ruined, over a hundred people are reported dead or missing, and more than 300,000 people have been displaced.
Rescue and relief services are limited, and a lot of people could use your help.
If you are willing and able, please donate to the
Philippine National Red Cross. A local consumer group, TXTPower, is also accepting donations for the PNRC via
Paypal.
My mother and I are also contributing to relief efforts for an elementary school in the province of Laguna which is supported by one of my late father’s non-profit organisations. This school is located near a river and a mountain, and the floods swept timber through the building and destroyed a lot of their facilities. If you’d like to help with this specifically, please PM me.
A little goes a long way: even $15 will buy a substantial amount of rice and feed a lot of hungry people.
Thanks for reading, and please spread the word if you are willing.
