You got it wrong, America. You hear me? WRONG WRONG WRONG. NOOOOOOOOOOOP. *WAILS* BRB CRYING FOREVER. ;_;
So, about this Dreamwidth thing.
I’ve been keeping up mostly via
gossymer’s posts on the subject, and although I was pretty sceptical in the beginning (I find Dreamwidth evangelism kind of annoying), I’ve decided to get an account when they open for business. Between the awesome features (my favourites: a sensible style system and, in the future, del.icio.us-esque tagging instead of clunky memories) and the cool people running it, I think it’s worth a go. So, I am now facing a dilemma: I need a name.
I like
orexisbella and it makes for a pretty URL, but it doesn’t feel like a name to me. Plus, there just isn’t a pleasant way to shorten it: orexis sounds awkward, Bella smacks of Twilol and O just reminds me of Oprah - you guys, I really do not like Oprah - or orgasms. (I haven’t got anything against those, but you must admit, it doesn’t quite work.) I end up signing off on things as T, which only makes sense to people who know my real name and doesn’t logically coordinate with my handle.
How did you pick your handle? Have you ever changed it / considered doing so?
I’ve come up with some potential choices for myself, and I think you should help me choose, because I’m really indecisive. So indecisive, in fact, that I have listed the pros and cons of each option:
pyxis little box or casket for jewels or toiletries
+ I could christen myself ‘pyxi’, which sounds like a good name for an ethereal kitten
+ It is the name of an adorable dog in
this fic!
+ Starts with the first letter of my name, and I could answer to P
- If people called me P, I would feel like I was being referred to as pee.
- It’s a short word and I like long words better :|
- People may assume that I don’t know how to spell pixies synarchia or synarchic from synarchy: joint sovereignty
+ ‘Syn’ is one of my favourite letter combinations
+ It’s ~*symbolic*~ of my Political Science background tirailleur skirmisher; sharpshooter
+ I love the meaning
+ It sounds prissy and French, and therefore it appeals to my pretentious soul
+ Starts with the same letter as my nickname, and I could answer to T
- I’d probably have to check the spelling all the time triquetra triangular-shaped object
+ Three is one of my favourite numbers, so it’s meaningful enough
+ Starts with the same letter as my nickname, and I could answer to T
vainglory idle boastfulness or vaniloquentia vain or foolish talk
+ Either meaning is actually very fitting thinking waffling pathetically about this for days. HELP ME. Please? ;_;
PS Does anyone else keep typing out dw (DW? It doesn’t look right to me in either upper or lower case, damn it) and mentally reading it as Dreamweaver?
