J-Dramas watched in 2015...

I just finished watching Mutsu ("Painless") last night. It's quite good, but then again, I'm a huge fan of Nishijima Hidetoshi (ever since I saw him in "Strawberry Nights"). There were some interesting twists in the storyline albeit there were some plotholes but it's similar to a science-fiction type of story so there's bound to be "stretching your imagination" moments.

I am still currently watching Algernon ni Hanabata o ("Flowers for Algernon"). I mentioned this series before but the fansubber has stopped subbing so I've only watched it up to episode 8. It is a really good remake of the original novel, tied in to Japanese way of life.

Okashi no Ie ("House of Sweets") is my current series that I'm watching. It is a sweet warm family type of drama, slice-of-life and romance type. I love Joe Odagiri as an actor. He is extremely versatile and I remember when I first saw him in the drama "Searching for My Polestar" (another old but favourite drama of mine).

I did finish watching Death Note the 2015 tv series. It was good except I'm still not too sure about the actor who played "L". Perhaps it's because I absolutely adored Kenichi Matsuyama as "L" so it's difficult for me to accept a new actor for the same character role. I noticed at the end of the last episode, there was a clip (trailer) of a brand new Death Note movie starring the original actors from the other movies, coming out in 2016. I can't wait for it!! :)

Though the series finished airing in 2012, Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri finished being English subtitled in the summer of this year. It is a crime drama series, a  more light-hearted detective story with comedic parts in it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, mainly because the comedy worked with the serious parts and it also starred a calico cat (and I love cats!!).

In the Spring of 2015, I watched a drama series with the same lead actor in Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri, Aiba Masaki. It was Yokoso, Wagaya e. It was a family drama that is suspenseful because a crime happens and the story unravels as to who-dun-it. The plotline is quite well written and kept me guessing about the criminal.

An excellent drama I watched in the summer was Ishi no Mayu ("Stone's Coccoon"). It was a detective crime drama, aired on WOWOW so it was a short series. It was nail biting and actors were amazing. Kimura Fumino was great in her role as a young homicide detective, and it portrayed her realistically in a male dominated profession.

Because of Kimura Fumino, I will be starting to watch a new drama series soon, "Siren". It is also a crime detective series. It sounded interesting and I hope it meets my expectations!

Well, that basically sums up my list of j-drama series of 2015 that I've watched or will watch. I have watched a few other ones here and there throughout this year, but they were just alright. The trend of shows I watched is crime and detective stories; my favourite type of genre! I hope 2016 will bring new and exciting dramas!!
