I arrived home this evening to find an unlocked door, a disgruntled cat, and a copy of the Ministry inspectors' report on my kitchen table. The inspectors were nothing if not thorough, at least with regards to the contents of my flat. From the Unbreakable Charms on my windows to the old bottle of Sleekeasy's in the back of the cupboard, anything ( Read more... )

This is getting seriously ridiculous. Isn't it infringing on all sorts of privacy rights?

I would think so, but it appears they've got quite a bit of latitude to do as they please. I'll bet they used Terry as an excuse for it as well.

Yeah, they probably did. Nice scapegoat to carve the way and all. Is Crookshanks going to be okay?

Crookshanks should be all right, in theory, but I'm taking him to the healer to be sure. He's not acting any differently, which is a good sign. He's just as indignant as you'd expect him to be though, and if the situation weren't so serious it would be amusing.

Well, you're not acting any differently. Is that a good sign?

Are you okay, I mean.

I'm angry but otherwise fine. I stripped down my flat to make sure the inspectors hadn't tampered with anything else, and though it was soothing to build the charms back up, I'm still upset by their abuse of privilege.

If things are this bad with Remus as Minister, can you imagine how they'd be if someone like Huntley were in charge?

I'd like to say that someone like Huntley will never be in charge but both history and the present show that anything is possible.

So what do you think this all means, anyway? I mean, I have a few ideas of my own on what it might mean, but you're the clever one. And I don't like to be right when it comes to stuff like this. I like to be wrong, like I was with Snape.

You've been right where I've been wrong often enough. I don't think it's as bad as it could be - I'm not sure anything could be so bad again. Still, I'm not inclined to see this as anything less than the threat that it is.

Stop by for tea and we can test my Gran's newly-Provenanced china over wild theories of wizarding socio-political unrest.

I don't want to think about what it would be like if Remus weren't Minister. This is all so unfair, and it seems as if there's nothing to be done about it.

So much has changed for the better since he took over and certain people just can't stand that fact. As for what we can do... Well, you know as well as anyone what it comes down to in the end.
