Okay, you know what? The more I dig into this whole shit, the more it fucks me over.
I'd always though I was one of those ones who would continue to support 2PM anyway, because y'know, Jay + 1:59PM = 2PM, but Jay =/= 2PM. It's not called JayPM for a reason. The boys have worked hard to get all that they have now, and it doesnt make sense to turn our backs on all of them just because their entertainment company or PR department is fucked up, or because one of the members made a big mistake. The boys were amazing all this while, made good music, created awesome entertainment, and were basically a joy to have on the scene. I'd support them no matter what, and even if Jay doesn't ever come back, I'll deal with the disappointment and move on like he did, and continue being a Hottest for 2PM.
But the fanmeet conference was a turning point for me.
I cant even emphasise how many times my heart clenched as I read through it. Brace yourselves for quotes coming your way.
Jungwook:
JYPE does not take any responsibility for the personal life of entertainers in the company. So Jaebeom will take responsibility for this situation. Simply speaking, Jaebeom is the offender, and the other 6 boys and JYPE are the victims.
When asked about Jay's "serious private life problems":
Simply speaking, the 6 boys are kind of victims. If we did not speak about the matter frankly, fans would never believe us so we told the truth: serious private life problem.
It's rather like saying, "ohei, jays gone forever, sry. its bcos hes been a bad boy and done summin even worse than calling kr ghei. no, were not gonna tell u wut it is. were just sry this had to happen, it was a decision made by everyone bcos they cudnt werq wit jay no moar. its a ckrut so we cant tell u wut he did, but i promise its a rly gud reason!"
On appearing all happy and rainbows while on vacation after JYPE's decision was made:
Wooyoung: It was the first vacation we got.
Taec: My job is a singer so I cannot cringe at the people I meet.
Chansung: We cannot show dark faces in front of our families during the holidays. What do you expect? Should we make a fool of ourselves during live programs and ask to bring Jay back?
On why they didn't protect Jay:
Wooyoung: We never kicked Jaebeom out. We tried to save him. If it were revealed later, it would be really regretful.
Chansung: Don't doubt our friendship.
Junho: Honestly, I hated Jay for a while when I knew the facts. We really tried our best to bring him back. But, now, to be silent is to save him.
Taec: Rumors will vanish after time.
Ouch. Harsh. Does not sound like the words of true brothers tbh. Of course, there's a high possibility that its all scripted and/or agreed on beforehand, but really, it hurts me to know that they said all this outright with straight faces, like Jay leaving means nothing to them.
Fan accounts said that the boys were very calm, if not just stoic. Apparently Junho put his head down and had a bit of a cry at one point, and the boy all went to noraebang after the conference and got drunk but I'll get to that later.
I reckon JYPE has no choice but to disclose Jay's wrongdoing, whatever it is, in order to clear up the mess. Fans are only going to keep on speculating and making things worse. Once things get too far out of proportion, JYPE might be forced to disband 2PM eventually. How is JYP going to get moolah for his rice cakes addiction then eh? He brought this on himself; things would be so much calmer if he's just gone, "Jaebeom is tired emotionally and decided he would rather spend time with his loved ones and continue with life as a normal teenager instead of being under the harsh glare of the spotlights. The rest of 2PM know and back him up, so please support his decision as well, thank you." Man's digging his own grave, I say.
Until it's all made known, people cant really judge 2PM for being cold or acting like the way they are, because they could be lying but they could also have been seriously hurt by whatever Jay did. Up until this point, it merely sounds like they are disappointed in Jay and what he did, but still love & support him without dragging his name further down.
But darker things start to come up. Some of you must have known about the soompi rumors by now. Basically, the fans were so hurt by 2PM's heartless comments on Jay's situation that they decided to spill the secrets that they'd been keeping under wraps initially to protect them from unwanted attention.
Click for girl shagging, Jay ignoring and a harsh Wooyoung. Tbh, it made me want to hurl. It just read like some very bad fanfiction, like some people decided that they dont have enough shit in their lives and want to stir up more. It just made me all the more disappointed in fandom.
But if 2PM were really angry with Jay, much of it had to do with the fans too. Ever since he left, Hottests have been targetting the other 6, boycotting everything they do and basically not caring about how they'd feel. If I was one of them, I'd be pretty pissed off at Jay too, like, why the hell are we suffering for your shit? Yes, he was the initial victim, but the fans turned the other boys into victims as well, possibly even bigger ones, since they had to deal with everything without the support of their families or a leader. At least Jay got to be out of the direct hit zone, with his loved ones, out of the spotlight mostly, and well away from rabid fangirls who dont seem to own nailclippers.
My heart was already aching too much. The boys were harsh beyond expectation or comprehension, the fans are either hysterical (therefore entirely unhelpful) or stirring up more fuckery, JYP is still a retarded gorilla, and those who know the truth about Jay's bad social behaviour arent spilling. More depressing accounts of the conference:
When asked why JYPE did nothing to shield Jay during the 4 days after his myspace was leaked:
Jung Wook: Then why didn't fans shield him? (Yeah the fans went batshit on this one.)
When asked if the last episode of Wild Bunny was ever going to be aired:
Apparently they all just laughed. I dont even..
Junho crying?
He and Chansung were talking about their old problems pre-debut. It wasnt about Jay.
And possibly the most incriminating one out of the fanmeet ones:
Taecyeon: Jaebeom's personal life has been dirty anyway.
What went down was just so much to handle. Lastly, and the absolute shocker, from
Insider 2PM. I've heard people trust its reliability, although I'm not too sure myself as I'm usually rather skeptical about internal sources, leaked information and the like, but it seems to explain things and fill up gaps.
The update is
here, and basically, the gist of it is that 2PM have turned against Jaebeom.
They truly no longer want him to be part of their group any more.
Most parts of the fanmeet were scripted: Junho faked the crying, and Nichkhun didn't really text Jay (he said they'd communicated and Jay had given the green light to use the words "serious private life problems").
If you read their previous updates, you'll know that they've mentioned some members being pro-boycott and some being anti. Basically, some members were more involved in the fight for Jay than others. In the past, Insider 2PM refused to reveal who the respective people were for the members' sakes, but now they've come out with everything.
At first when the controversy exploded, Junsu and Junho were angry at Jay because of what he said. Junho yelled at Jay and Junsu ignored Jay when he tried to explain. They didn’t understand fully so they were confused and frustrated, like all the angry Koreans. As far as we know, Junho was still angry at Jay when Jay left for the airport. Taecyeon, Wooyoung, and Chansung cried and Taecyeon and Nichkhun tried their best to bring Jay back. As time passed, all six members wanted desperately to bring Jay back. More months passed. We got the news that members were starting to turn their backs on Jay. The biggest shock to us was Taecyeon, since he was the one who advocated the boycott the most in the beginning. At this point, Taecyeon, Junsu, and Junho were against Jay coming back and were also against the boycott. Taecyeon and Junho wanted more fame and popularity, while Junsu wanted the position of Leader. Nichkhun was in the middle. He supported Jay but also learned from his family that he should be grateful to JYPE for giving him opportunities. Wooyoung and Chansung were on Jay’s side, but Wooyoung soon moved to the middle too. Up until the few days before the conference, there were still three members waiting for Jay. The remaining members who decided that they don’t need Jay decided to tell Chansung and Wooyoung lies about Jay to bring them to JYPE’s side while Nichkhun was in the Philippines filming Danbi. Now they have both turned against Jay.
Nichkhun is the only member who is still waiting for Jay, but even he is not completely against JYPE.
Summary: They threw a bit of a fit, sent Jay off, thought about things and decided they didn't want him back after all. Apart from Khun, since he's a motherfucking angel who can do no wrong.
And also:
We said before that a video of Jay might be released. It has been filmed and they planned to show it at the conference, but didn’t. They’re planning on bringing Jay back to Korea. They will make him say to fans that he doesn’t deserve to come back. He will ask the fans to support the six members. This will serve as his final apology and farewell. This was originally planned to happen on February 14th, but it has been changed to the 28th.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS UNCONFIRMED. Our source just wanted us to warn you of what’s possible. ...JYPE IS GOING TO MAKE JAY LIE.
Of course, make what you will of all this. I'm just here to vent my frustrations.
I actually dont know what to think any more. It's obvious that I want to be in denial, I want it all to be an elaborate early April Fool's joke, but I really dont even...
If its true, should I support a group that failed to support their brother and apparently kicked him away instead? I still adore them so much, but the damage has been done and I dont know if I can see them in the same light ever again if none of this is cleared up. I understand that they are a boyband, not saints or spiritual guidance advisors, so its not like they do no wrong like Khun. I dont even mind that; its just I cuts me so deep to see everything all torn up like this.
Now, more than ever, I can see the distinct possibility of 2PM disbanding and the dreams of 7 beautiful boys going up in a wisp of smoke.
okay brb, crying.
I'm done, I'm shattered. Sleep is in order.
