I suppose I should update this with something unrelated to NaNo, since November's over and all. though I do have to say that even though I did it and wrote 50K in 30 damn days, I'm still not done with the stupid thing. T_T I finished at a point that had me well on the road to the climax, at least, but I still have a good few thou to go - to say nothing of the dog actually going back and filling in all the caps-locky parts I skipped over because hey, coming up with a brain surgery scene is a wee bit hard when you're writing on a ridiculous deadline. Anyway. I have a resolution to my love triangle, or at least I will when I get to it; but I was re-reading earlier parts and I want to write an OT3 soooo baaaad augh. Ah well. Maybe someone else will do it for me. XD I did manage to write some of it yesterday, before I got side tracked by my other novel, which I've also missed terribly. And in fact I wrote a scene that I'm rather proud of, I must say. I'd like to finish out this bit so I can add in the bigbig scene that I wrote, like, months ago and that I'm finally coming up on. Hoo-ah.
...er. Sorry,
jedizero. I promised I'd stop talking about writing. :P So, on to other things!
Work's a bit nutty this month - I have 7 issues to put to press, god help me; one of which I don't even know when will be ready to even start to put together, and it was supposed to actually be all well and done a week ago. FFS. But everything else is right on schedule; it's just a pain to be working on three issues at once - three last/this week, and three more next/next-next week. Especially considering all the other stuff that's going on, like our department holiday party, our team holiday lunches, lunches with two of my pub eds, and, oh yeah, Christmas and New Year's themselves. Oy. I'm definitely going to be ready for that 5 day break at Christmas and 4 days at New Year's. Oy gevalt.
We had a happy hour last Wednesday during which we went karaoke-ing; and it was absolutely terrifying but rather fun at once. Matt joined us, since he's missing the company holiday party (but I'll get into that in a mo), so that was cool. He sang "Your Song" (which I really can't stand, btw) and actually walked off the stage and serenaded me directly. Cue a v red-faced me, and giggling and whistling from the other SAGE folks there. Ha. ♥ So I guess I have to like that song a little bit more now, perhaps. And I sang "Fairytale of New York" with Meredith and then went up for a duet with Matt of "I've Had the Time of My Life." Good times. :)
But Matt's in Idaho now, for a week-long shoot in the freezing cold for a hunting/cooking show two of his buddies are doing. And if it takes off it could be big, and a huge opportunity for him... but I'm still here all alone for a week which is somewhat sad. And he's missing the company holiday party, which is very sad; but at least it's made me not want to go get a new dress and everything, so I guess it's saving me money. But still. =\ Keeping myself busy with writing and WoW (Cataclysm!!!! omgwtfbbq) and our new Wii, but it's still a bit lonely in here. Ah well. Another week, I can handle it.
Went on a double date with Cassandra and Koby on Saturday before Matt left; we had sushi at Kabuki (and learned that squid is emphatically not delicious), and saw Tangled. And boy, have I fallen in love. The art style was so pretty, and the score so good; the Oscar-bait song and that whole scene brought tears to my eyes, it was so gorgeous. And it's not as silly and slap-sticky as the previews make it seem, but it has some really touching moments. As well as being hilarious, of course. The villain also has this one song that goes:
Go ahead, then give him this
This is why he's here!
Don't let him deceive you!
Give it to him, watch, you'll see!
...etc. I was like, "...you're not just talking about a crown, are you?" o.O But ahh, so good. I desperately want to go see it again, and might sneak out and go on Friday since I won't have much better to do. The love song also reminds me of this one James/Evie scene that I wrote, that I haven't put in yet, but that just makes me all the happier.
So... yeah! That's how things have been. And now I'm off to eat, and to tap away at one novel or the other, and then off to AZEROTH. Woo!
