Warning for musical geekery, yo.
I haven't been in the mood for a lot of vocal music today so I've mostly been listening to my collection of classical music with a few soundtracks tossed in; even when I took a walk it was all classical stuff. Was especially listening to "This is Gallifrey" off the Doctor Who S3 soundtrack and geeking out over it in my head; because Murray Gold is indeed a genius. Ahaaa that track makes me really happy in a pathetically geeky fashion. *grin* It also really makes me miss playing in an orchestra. And even though picking up my violin (*cough* sort of) feels really good after all this time, it's just not the same. Sadface. I miss playing with lots of people. So I usually listen to awesome music and pretend. ;-) Was listening to the last part of Mozart's Requiem, too; which is one of my favourite movements as much as it tends to amuse me at times. "Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let light shine on them..." For whys? "BECAUSE YOU ARE MERCIFUL!!!! /ROAR" *shakes head* Right. Scare the heavenly authorities into giving you a good afterlife. Good luck. Aside from that, tho, I love it from a violin-player's and a singer's perspective both, because it's just all sorts of awesome. The entire Requiem, not just the "Lux Aeterna". What else of note did I listen to... ah, yes; Hans, of course, my dear Hans. I don't think there'll ever be a time when "Chevaliers du Sangreal" will not give me chills. Ahh. That slow build to that amazing finale always makes me shiver in a geeky happy way. ^^ And "Safe Passage" from The Last Samurai - that whole score, actually, is one of my favourite film scores ever; I love that film like whoa and the music captured my heart from the first time I heard it. It's on constant rotation on my iTunes, or it would be if I did such a thing. Heh. Anyway..... music is awesome. I miss being part of making it on a regular basis. (Wow, if you take out music and put in something else, that sentence would have a completely different meaning.... o.O) Sad that I won't be in choir in the fall, but since I don't exactly relish being in class from 10-6 every Monday and Thursday, it's just not gonna happen. Spring, hopefully. And hopefully the Masterwork will be something as awesome as the Requiem (as much as I did grow to enjoy most of the stuff we sang this year). Because that was beyond brilliant. ♥
In other news. Feel a great pull towards watching Firefly again, because Nathan Fillion is ridiculously attractive because it's an awesome show. Ahem. Will probably watch a few eps online and then will borrow the DVDs from James once we're all back at Pdine. Um. Going hiking again on Saturday. Hopefully will not get fried this time around. >.> Oo! Saw another human being today! XD Had lunch with Adrienne today and hung out at Borders and got icey-cream at Whole Foods. Yay! So I have now been introduced to the yumminess that is Fuhhhh (er, Pho =P), AND I BOUGHT THE DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE AT BORDERS AND NOW HAVE A NEW WHO POSTER. OHHYES. XDDD Got Rose+Donna on one side and DoctorDonna on the other. Methinks I will put it up so DoctorDonna are facing out, since even in the Blue Suit of Death the Doctor is... quite good-looking. (Matt, I'm so sorry. I love you, really. =P) So yay! Happiness indeed. Writing's coming along well enough, I suppose; finished a chapter yesterday and am (naturally) stuck on the next. Grr. Ah well, with every word I march closer to the finish... finally.... blimey, it's already been over a year that I've been working on this. Yeesh. Still, I've got rather a lot to show for it, si? Si indeed. In fact, I should probably attempt to bang out another sentence or two before going to bed. Bonne nuit, mes amis!
