Sam thought he’d never get over it, but here he is, three months after.... that day. His first solo hunt is a simple salt and burn that Ellen handed him.
He’s a little shaky, but determined when he descends into the basement, sawn-off in one hand, maglite in the other.
Suddenly, nervousness hits like it hasn’t since his first hunt, tagging along behind Dean and Dad. He breathes, fast and shallow, trying to see around the cone of light from the torch, and doesn’t move off the last wooden step.
“Move yer ass Sammy! Haven’t got all day!” He jerks around at the voice... (it’s HIM!), then smiles, relaxing. Dean can’t snipe at him any more, but his ghost is more than up to the task.
