The Comfort of Nothingness

Nov 29, 2006 06:01

There's a silence here this morning that's both eerie and peaceful- the sound of snow. I don't mean the sound that snow makes when it's falling, but rather the sound of nothingness that is heard when everything is blanketed in an insulating layer of white. I love mornings like this. edit: that insulating layer of white seems to be covering ice. local schools are on a two hour delay. yeah, my commute is going to be fun today.

Sami made the honor roll again. She hadn't quite made the list the last couple of terms, but this time she averaged 3.82. I'm very proud of her. I thought she was too until she started in last night saying that she was dissapointed that she didn't get a 4.0. If there is a chance for drama and dispair, I swear- that kid will find it. Darnit-- don't care what she thinks about it, though. I am very pleased and nothing can change that. She's worked hard for this and deserves some recognition.

It's cold in the house this morning. I need to get coffee made and maybe... I'll curl up on the sofa and gaze out the back window. If I'm lucky, perhaps Mufassa will curl up with me. Now, that's how mornings should be.
