In the Arms of Clemency

“There you are” he says
And what was lost is found
He falls on his knees, and is lost again
Though the heart is there, just black and bear
Left to the birds that scavenge dead bones, on the ground
At all twilight hours when the soul is wandering
And the mood goes down and the sun is drown
When will the man see God?

So now comes the stars singing their songs of sight
For in day they are gone but see the day just as they do the night
If only we saw the world their way, with the eyes of God
But sight is lost for sign and a long good bye
Now the stars see and only once believe
And forget when they wake form the dream
Just when the rooster crows and the sleepy night gives way to the light and the stars retreat out of sight
Then will the man see God

But confusion gives to conformity
Like the dandelions under a magnifying glass
With bright white heat it bears down
Wilting the soft yellow, son, colored petals
Brittle as they bend down to the cold grey earth
Begging for clemency
Like the sinner to God, on his bed one second from death
With teary sobs he pleas
“Father, forgive the soft yellow, I’ll try harder to believe.”
