O.k. people...here's the deal. For those that haven't heard, there are 14 Springfields across the country that are competing for the "Hometown Premiere" of The Simpsons Movie. They are doing this through video submissions and public voting on the USA Today website. We need to bring this to the true Springfield...Springfield Oregon. Here's a couple facts for any non-believers.
-- Matt Groening (Simpsons creator) is from Portland, Oregon
-- Matt Groening went to school at the University of Oregon in Eugene, which is right next to Springfield
-- The Pioneer Father statue at U of O bears huge resemblance to the Jedidiah Springfield statue
-- Max's tavern near the U of O shows where the idea for Moe's tavern originated
If this isn't enough to convince you, even Tony Hawk, who has appeared on the Simpson's, threw in his endorsement for Springfield Oregon.
