In Search of a Coupon Caddy

Apr 03, 2011 17:05

I have been carrying my coupons to the grocery store in a plain paper envelope. After a few weeks, the envelope gets worn beyond usefulness and I replace it with a new envelope. I have looked for a coupon caddy - on ebay, etsy, in stores - and have not found one that I like or am willing to part with some bucks for. I haven't been happy about carrying a tattered envelope with me, but it has served its purpose, albeit poorly.

After my searches failed, I decided to make my own. I assembled the necessary materials: cardboard, glue, needle and thread, ruler, scissors, and most importantly a pair of Sir Braver's worn out jeans. I measured, cut, glued, sewed, and voila!

It certainly looks better than a tattered and worn envelope. And it holds all the coupons I need to carry - but it's a little difficult to sift through. The design needs improvement.

So I'm still searching for the perfect (or at least good) coupon caddy (for cheap).

Yesterday we stopped at Ross "Shop For less." I thought this might work and it was only a few dollars.

This turned out to be a good size, but it doesn't expand like it really needs to. It is made of soft plastic and I expect that it will crack and peel and look horrible in short order.

Finding a coupon caddy that does the job, is reasonably attractive (at least more attractive than a used paper envelope), and fits my tight budget is turning out to be a major project. Some might think of it as making a big deal out of nothing. I agree.
