I was fully prepared to sleep in and enjoy a snow day, but I glad I found the motivation to get out and sell. I went to go see my uncle, who is a building engineer at a very nice hotel resort. I'm going to have lunch with him next week. I should really see my family more often, instead of just being shut in my room on the computer. Maybe I'll talk to his boss about pest control, maybe not. Two birds with one stone is always nice. I think I'm getting the hang of going out and cold calling; it's just the follow up part I'm having trouble with. Luckily the other salesman who's taken me under his wing is going to help me out with that tomorrow. I know I should have done more today, and I don't think I had any reason to cut it short today.
I just started reading Malcolm Gladwell's "Blink". It's about the validity of snap judgments and quick decisions can be just as effective as thoroughly informed and carefully thought out decisions. After reading only 2 chapters, I'm pretty convinced. When I walk into a place to cold call, I should be able to read a person and react to any objections they have. I'm not so good at that, so that makes selling hard. I'll listen more and let you folks know my findings.
10 calls; 1 appointment, maybe 2.

work,
reading people,
