its one of those nights were all of my patients are sleeping nicely, except for this one little old lady in for sepsis and decubs. hx of MS changes, sundowning etc.
since everyone else is asleep, i can spend time with her... gave her a massage, held her hand, just sit and be with her, etc.
its those little things in nursing that make my day feel worth while.
yes, i love the blood, guts, and saving lives.... but i also love that my patients let me into their lives during the most intimate parts - when theyre sick or dying.
yes, i can be your water fetcher, pillow fluffer, food getter. but i can also save lives. what other profession in the world lets you do that? none. I love being a nurse.
****side note**** the hand towel dispenser just went off with no one around. glad this is my last night shift.... ****end side note****
