Hello, Ye Olde El-Jay!

Anyone remember me? Man, I suck at updating.

BUT! I have house news! We are FINALLY closing on Friday afternoon! It was only, what? Two months ago that I posted about this house? Turns out we had some issues. Mostly with the plumbing. There was a leak that needed to be fixed, and we had issues with the city not turning on the water, miscommunications, blah blah blah. So that took forever. And then the government program that Andy's getting the mortgage from ran out of money, so we had to wait for that. And since the house was bank-owned, it's been a lot more difficult getting in contact with them than if we'd just had a regular person working with a realtor, so it would often take several days longer to hear back from them than it should have. I guess it's been an adventure. But we're moving in this weekend, and I have a few photos! These were taken a long time ago, when we had our inspection, but I'd been waiting to post them until we knew for sure we'd get the house, because I didn't want to jinx it. I just didn't think it would take this long. Now when I take pics after we move in, there will be a butt-load of snow in the yard, so it's kind of weird seeing how green it is outside. Anyway, here's our little soon-to-be home sweet home:

I love the little sunroom we have. I'm so excited for our kitties to have this to play in and watch the birds :)

Andy's dad referred to this as the white-trash porch. And it kind of is. It's just mosquito netting surrounding a deck. It's not that pretty. At some point we're considering tearing this down and building a garage behind the house instead, but that will be a long time coming. Currently there's a little one car garage (unattached, obviously), but Andy didn't take a picture of it, for some reason. Oh, and Andy took almost all of these pictures because I got to the inspection late that day since I was in class, so blame him when we're missing pictures of things. I know I do :P

Our living room, with fireplace!

Part of the kitchen. I don't know why Andy didn't take a picture of the rest of it. But his mom is really excited to redo our cabinets for us.

First floor bedroom

I'm pretty sure this was a dining room, but someone closed off the hallway between this room and the kitchen to turn it into a bedroom. We're planning on making this a library/den, and I am so freaking excited!

Part of the upstairs bedroom. Not sure what's up with the carpeting.

Other side of the room. There's also a tiny bedroom upstairs that Andy didn't take a picture of. We're planning on saving remodeling the upstairs for sometime this spring so we can keep it closed off and try to save on heating. But the closet in the corner has a window in it, and my mom thought that was pretty cool. Eventually we might expand that to a walk-in closet.

Upstairs half-bath. Again, Andy failed to take a picture of the downstairs bathroom, but it's not too exciting. Probably one of the first projects will be to remodel the first-floor bathroom, but this one will be fixed up too, eventually.

Part of the basement. Check out the awesome asbestos tile! Obviously, our first project will involve destroying/taming that beast. But our basement is huge, which will be awesome once it's fixed up.

Scary toilet in the basement. But it's a throne, see the stairs?

Well, that's all the pics I have from a couple months ago, but I'll be sure to get some after we move in! And I'll try to post more often! Except we probably won't have Internet for awhile at the new house...so we'll see how that goes. But I am so excited! Not that I want to move in the snow this weekend...but house! Yay! No more apartment! :)
