Title: My Soul in Agony

AN: Randomly written for wendymr's tag by drabble challenge, in which you start your drabble with the first word of the last. Alone, in this case.

“Alone, alone, all, all alone, alone on a - ow.” The Doctor levelled an accusing glare at the bookcase. “What? I wasn’t brooding, I was reciting poetry.”
Without changing pitch, the background hum of the TARDIS dripped nonchalance. “Who, me?” she might have asked. “It must have been some other sentient space/time ship dropping books on your head.”
“Perfectly good poetry, too,” the Doctor continued, unappeased. “Especially if you judge by quantity. Verse fifty-four, and I wasn’t even half way through - brilliant, isn’t it?”
He dodged a falling dictionary, comprehension dawning. “Ah.” He grinned. “That’d be a “no” then, would it?”
