He’s happy. He is. He’s happy and delighted and joyful and so, so, so clever, and brilliant, oh yes. He’s fantastic.
It’s not a lie.
It’s not.
And if every smile is a conscious effort and the happiness doesn’t quite reach as far past the surface as it should,
And if the empty spaces in his mind still won’t stop screaming,
And if it’s all, all, all his fault.
That’s not the point.
The point is, he’s alive. He’s alive, and breathing, and living, and the whole crazy, glorious universe is turning all around him.
And he refuses, absolutely refuses, not to love every second of it.
