A Thought For Every Man Who's Tried To Figure Out What's In HIs Hands

Thanks to lyssamorgaine for hipping me to this community. This one's been rattling 'round my brain since I saw Episode III. I suppose this fits in with Wave Two, but it was written before I saw the challenges ( Read more... )

Excellent fic, and I'm glad you had one trooper capable of holding back. This is the second fic where the trooper kills himself. Not that I think you're incorrect - while pondering a story for this wave of tales myself, I had the thought that some of the more independent troopers, like the ARCs or the commanders, might snap out of it and feel suicidal, although I figured they might feel moreso if they had reacted according to their conditioning and snapped out of it too late. I wondered specifically about Commander Cody, since as far as he knows, Gen. Kenobi is dead.

I rather like Zandru Khirin, he seems a good sort, and someone who tries to be as humane as possible under war conditions.

Thanks for the fic!

Thanks for enjoying; I'm so glad you did. Zandru was the first original character I wrote that I gave a backstory and some substance.

Silly me didn't read any of the other stories before posting this; if I'd known it was similar to another one, I'd have held off.

I'm glad you posted the story - like I said, I do think that a suicidal impulse would be highly likely given the way the clones have been conditioned. You envisioned one way that would play out, and the previous author thought of something different, and I'm thinking of a third variation. It's all in how we interpret the possibilities, and seeing the parallels is very cool.

So does Zandru survive the later jedi purges? The Unknown Regions are out there for exploring if one wishes to avoid Vader and the Emperor.

I actually haven't written that part of Zandru's story yet . . . I suppose, subconsciously, I was hedging my bets and waiting for Episode III. But there'll be more, 'cause I can't stop writing this guy:).

Excellent story! Thanks for sharing it. I like the insight into 1742's thought-process -- how he doesn't know what it's like to have someone waiting for him, to have a home, but he's seen it in the reactions of people he's encountered during the war. Very cool.

Thank you for enjoying this. It was fun to speculate on the clones' thought processes. I inferred they must have inherited some form of a sense of honor from Jango and then just ran with that. Thanks for having the fabulous idea for this community!
