[Lancer brought his fishing rod to rest against his shoulder--it was the closest thing he had to a lance here, and it felt a little more natural to have something like it in his hand.]

Not bad--I confess I'm pretty impressed at your skills, both of you.

Thank you. I was worried I might be too rusty to be a worty challenger, and I've become disused to fighting duels.

You don't seem half bad, in my opinion.

I've spent most of my life training with the sword. I suppose that kind of skill cannot be lost easily. Though I do wish I could use my other abilities.

Tell me about it. All I even have for a weapon is this thing. I can replicate a lance, but I can't replicate magic.

You might find a long, pointy tree branch? [Though that might be hard to explain to the authorities.] Even if I found an acceptable replacement for my shield, I'd still be missing the feeling that allows me to predict attacks. It's hard to cover someone if you do not know when to do so.

That's true, but I'll get less suspicious looks if I'm carrying a fishing rod instead of a branch.

You're right. A lot of my own abilities are gone here, particularly speed and agility. It's damn hard to get used to.

Goldenrod sells sturdier rods, actually. Those might be more useful.

If I still had my magic, I could have teleported us all to Violet in a few seconds. Those restrictions are maddening. How can they affect even our strength?

I'll have to keep that in mind when I get there. The first one I got in Cherrygrove broke after a while.

If I wasn't stuck in a human body I could have been halfway across the country by now.

I've taken to jumping in the water to fight fish. It causes less trouble than those old rods.

But would you still be in this country? Or would you have a way to return home? Someone here must have that sort of power.

Fishing is a decent way to kill time, even if you don't catch anything.

...I'm not really looking for a way home just yet. Guess I should be careful.

It can be, until your Feebas decides to discuss color schemes with Magikarps.

I look, but not actively as I should. I must be enjoying seeing my old friends again too much.

Those fish with the blank stares? I can't stand those, they're unnerving.

...Same here. It's nice to actually get some time to myself for a change, too.

I like them, actually. But fishing is hard when your catch is chatting up your Pokémon and ignoring you.

We could all consider Johto a mandatory vacation, really.

I imagine it would be pretty difficult.

I'm in no rush to leave, especially where it'd just mean dying again.

I would rather be home, personally. But I can understand why people would stay.
