Over Thanksgiving, I had the misfortune to run into Matt Woods. He used to play soccer at Amory, then at ICC. He subbed for a while, looking for a place to coach soccer. Apprently, he's at Desoto Central now, who have been progressively better over the years. In any case, when I ran into him, he starts babbling about how he practically led the first Amory team on his own, blah blah. Too bad they weren't any good, but whatever. That's neither here nor there. He then tells me that Desoto Central is going to blow by Pearl and win state, and that at least 5 of them are going to play DI next year. I wrote that off as drunken hubris. Desoto's good, they have some guys that play club in Memphis, but they're not that good.
Last week, they murdered Olive Branch 7-1. But I still think he's full of shit.
Actually, I just miss soccer.
