First major GRRRRR in wedding planning

Is planning a wedding stressful? Yes. Has it really been getting to me? Not really. There have been hiccups along the way - date, location, Marriott's inability to make reservations easily in a group rate, invitation squabbles with my mom - but nothing that hasn't ceased to upset me within a matter of hours. Maybe it's my personality, but I think I'm just lucky to have had no real problems and blessed to be around people that care for me and really are trying to make me as happy as possible.

Until today. Today is our first real OH SH*T moment. And it's not even about the wedding. And by the time it all rolls around and away, it probably won't matter. But today - it sucks. Let's start with the back story....

After several days of searching for a rehearsal dinner location (and several very tasty meals - not a bad job to have really), we found a great one at a place called Villa Hermosa. It's beautiful. It does buffets. It does Costa Rican food. It's cheap. It's delicious. It's classy without feeling fussy. It's just what everyone was looking for. So we took the tour, and had them put our names down on the calendar and told them we'd get back to them as soon as we had spoken with the Crawfords about it (seeing as they're hosting). We spoke to the Crawfords, emailed Villa Hermosa with our menu selections and a couple of requests, and awaited a response. It never came.

Today, I picked up the phone to call them having gotten no response by email (and several follow up emails). It turns out that the date of our rehearsal dinner, August 16th is wide open. Well that's a relief. And we hadn't put down a deposit yet - well we knew that, we were waiting to hear back from you having selected the menu. And there was in fact a stretch of open dates from August 11-August 23. Such an open stretch that they had decided that it would be a GREAT time to renovate and remodel the bathrooms. No bathrooms = not allowed to be open to the public = no rehearsal dinner.

GAH!

So calmly, I had my father call them and speak to them. The current story is that he spoke to the head boss (I only spoke to the demi boss apparently) and the man sounded positive over the phone. When my father mentioned that we had been in contact since late May about this event, he asked that he forward all of those emails and communications to him and that he would "see what he could do to best suit our needs."

In the back of my head I know that there's a house on that property that is owned by the owner of the whole farm. It's a big house. It's a pretty house. I bet it has bathrooms.
