Ah! Nice way you got rid of the space demon by having the volunteers do it.

Poor Buffy & Joyce! I'm sure Dawn won't take this well but Spike is right in that she needs to know.

I thought it was about time the soldiers had something to do. I know they were just left in town on call, so to speak, but they deserved a chance to use their training.

Xander understands the desire to put it off better than Spike, I think, because Spike just doesn't see that it's that big a deal. Still, Joyce is too smart to not know that stuff happens and they need to talk to Dawn first.

Xander reading about that metwor in the newspaper was a neat twist on canon and I enjoyed Dawn's tale of Janice's friend's friend and Spike correcting Giles on just who saw the meteor was funny. Spike calling Buffy on not sharing Dawn's origins with Joyce and Dawn was also entertaining. He's right, of course, but his diplomatic skill is practically nonexistent ( ... )

Sadly, no Willow and Tara under the stars to see the meteor, so the gang had to find out about it differently.

Poor Joyce has just had a lot dumped on her, we've known for ages but she's still reeling from the shock. I suspect she'll figure out what to do fairly shortly though. *g*

Just catching up and, first, I wanted to say that your handling of the key spell was masterly. Very, very impressive. I really enjoy the way you are working canon into your AU and the Riley thing worked very well. Also, I love your Joyce and I'm so glad you fixed that. She's got to be the only person who can threaten Spike and have him listen. Loved that.
And I've just noticed that there is another chapter. Wonderful.

Glad you liked my playing with the Key spell. It was kind of fun to sort of weave it in with a little backstory. It's pretty unanimous, no one wanted Joyce to die. She adds an interesting dynamic to the coming events. *g*
