DEMF, now FUSE-IN: Detroit Movement a.k.a The Detroit Electronic Music Festival totally blew chunky noodle soup. Not only was there an entry fee of ten dollars, 25 for a weekend pass and 75 for a VIP pass, the musicians completely sucked. I was told the Saturday and Sunday night rocked but from what I heard tonight, I have my doubts. The main stage held an idiot who played Reggae/Hip Hop. Okay, sometimes I like Reggae and Hip Hop, but I didn't pay money to come listen to that. I want to listen to Trance/Industrial/ELECTRONIC! I want a thumping bass line with a musical plot. I don't want to listen to wannabe hippies jam on the drums.
Noel was just as disappointed. We went underground to the heavy Trance section. DJ PAXAHAU or whatever. He sucked unlubricated rectum. We trudged to our favorite acid jungle/bassline tent. The idiot in there completely fucked up his tonality and his sense of rhythm was completely off balance. The music sounded like some kind of cracked out computer designed nightmare played on a dusty CD player with scratches on the disc.
Finally, Mos Def took the stage. He started out with a rap that had a kick ass bassline to it. That was the only good song.
It was the first time I ever left early. Not to say that I didn't enjoy myself. I had a grand time People Watching. Speaking of people watching, I thought I saw Tom Felton there. And if it wasn't him, (which it prolly wasn't) he could have been his doppleganger. That brightened my spirits quite a bit.
Thus ends another year of the Electronic Music Festival. My summer has offically begun.
I would kill to go to WEMF. This year it's being held in Orangeville, an hour away from Toronto. Tickets are fricking $75.00! Oh well. Maybe next year.
My dream is to one day visit all the Electronic Music Festivals of the World.
