Hello, Winter, nice to meet you. Please don't frostbite me.
We have officially met Winter, and he is a bad mamma gamma. It was below freezing early this morning (not that I was up to feel the sting), but poor Jack had to walk to the metro station at 7am. The cold here is not really like a cold I've ever experienced. It's so dry that you feel like your body's moisture is being sucked away and turned to ice...kinda hard to explain. Also, the weather is kind of similar to London (grey and rainy half the time), though as I write this and look out my window, I see blue sky and picture-perfect puffy Sistine Chapel clouds. Go fig.
Speaking of cold, I heard back from P&G about the brand manager position...rejected...as usual. I have no idea why. They said they "have reviewed [my] qualifications and, unfortunately, are not able to pursue [my] application further." I was fairly surprised to be rejected in this early stage, especially because the reason they cite: "This decision represents [their] sincere efforts to consider [my] background and strengths for this specific opportunity." Considering my own feelings about my qualifications for a Brand Manager position, I have emailed them in order to find out what area I am lacking in and hopefully get some more information. I've also emailed a marketing guy on the inside of P&G (friend of a friend who sounded really impressed by my marketing resume and said "Don't be worried if they don't get back with you for a few weeks...One thing is certain, your experience is good and I do hope you get noticed"). Lastly, I contacted the guy at Magic Pencil whose wife is a BM for P&G Geneva. If they wont let me in the front door...I'll go around back...or something. Is there a job of "Networker" that I can apply for?! Maybe that's the only thing I'm qualified to do :(
In happier news, today I get to print my Balelec poster! Hooray! And I'm dLing Vampire Weekend, thanks to Caroline's recommendation.
