Went to see Eragon today
MINOR SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!
Eragon opened in New Zealand on the 14th of December. New Zealand is 21 hours ahead of Pacific time, so it's acutally the 13th in the USA for most of the time it is the 14th in New Zealand. I went with a friend of mine to go and see it.
I loved the movie. The animation of the dragon was awesome, and got a reasonable amount of screen time. I especially liked the animation in the emotion on her face. Everytime she was on the screen, a shiver of pleasure ran down my spine.
The story was OK, but I didn't go and see it for the story. I went to see it for the dragon. She is VERY pretty!
- The dragon (Saphira) doesn't "talk" - She can talk to Eragon through telepathy. The voice is done by a female.
- She DOES NOT die in this film.
- You don't see Saphira growing up, although you do see her when she hatches, and a couple more times when she's a baby, and she snuggles up with Eragon. VERY CUTE!
In other news, we picked up the boat today. Had a new engine fitted to it. The old engines (2 by 50 HP) could make about 22 knots. The new engine (1 by 150 HP) makes around 52 knots. Even if we don't get a call for orca tomorrow, we'll probably still go out and try out the new engine. Should be fun! Hopefully we find the orca soon.
