Sunday I went home for a Chanukkah party. I was surprised to find my aunt and cousin and a family friend there, as well. My mom and sister were out, but as soon as they came back my mom took me to go get a new phone. Yay! And because I'm cheap and we were ready for an upgrade it was only $15!

We had dinner (Beca's ex-boyfriend, Rob, came over; it was kind of weird. Apparently they're trying to be friends, but I don't see that happening, to be honest), opened gifts, and played dreidle for a bit.

I actually had nice gifts today. My sister made a placard with my name printed out and then magazine cutouts of words that she apparently associates with me. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but I was very touched. I like it! Then I opened one from my parents. Initially I was rather unenthused because it turned out to be a care package with various pharmaceutical odds and ends that I might need at some point or another. Then I realized that the reason that it was not terribly exciting was that at any time I can get those on my own or rely on my parents to supply me if I need, and THAT was honestly a pretty exciting perspective! It also didn't hurt that my other gift was funds towards my future surfboard. ;)
