See, my initial reaction to that part was to cringe, but the walking-back from that, as it were (and I'm relistening to make sure I'm not, you know, just hearing what I want to hear), when she says that being strong doesn't mean having to downgrade anyone else, the stand on your own two feet bit, that I agree with entirely.
I have problems with the view of feminism or women's lib or whatever you want to call it when people (usually women) take it to mean that women are superior or that to be a proper feminist you have to get pissy anytime someone engages in a typically chivalrous act. That is to say, I'm perfectly happy to let someone hold the door for me, but I'm just as likely to hold the door for them. I was raised to believe that's simply common courtesy.
But yeah, I'm so glad I found it, it's simply marvelous.
See, I don't know. I adore Harry, I really do, but I'm not sure Sarah could be happy with him in the longterm. Or anyone, for that matter. Then again, I'm not sure how much of that is The Doctor, and how much of it is Sarah. I'm actually trying to figure that out for a rather cracked out thing I've been playing around with. Not Harry specifically, but rather relationships in general.
I agree - I don't think Sarah & Harry are a happy ever after pairing at all. I can see them as friends, loving each other like brother & sister, or friends with benefits, but I think any sort of long term relationship would lead to murder. And I think they're both intelligent enough not to think it could be otherwise.
Oh, friends I absolutely see. There's something really funny about the image of the two of them say, five years down the line, continually trying new and inventive ways to kill one another. Or maybe it's just that I'm running on no sleep and the stain on the carpet of my living room would amuse me if I looked at it too long right now.

I listened to it for the first (and to date, only) time a week or so ago while stuck in traffic. I should go listen again :-D
