The West Coast room was marginally better this past week. Besides all the regular guys I like to goof off and act silly with, Luke showed up, so I actually got a few "real" WCS dances in there.
The West Coast Swing lesson was running late, so I hung out for a few minutes in the main room. I had an amazing dance with Lacroix. Have I mentioned how much I like dancing with him? What I've noticed about him is that he pretty quickly discerns a follow's strengths and weaknesses and alters his lead to play to the strengths. Also he always makes me feel like I don't suck, which tends to allow me to relax and have fun.
Anyway. I heard mumblings that the West Coast Room was dying a slow death. *Sigh* I don't know why the WCS community in Austin can't get its act together. I mean, we could blame it on age, right? since that crowd is typically much older. Maybe the dances need to be earlier in the evening or something. I dunno. What's weird is that the professional talent in Austin is getting robust... Angel and Debbie are here, Mylie and Rowdy are coming into their own, and besides which, they are bringing in other nationally-recognized instructors to Austin. Isn't Topel still coming here, too? I mean, really, what's it going to take? *gah*
