Hawai'ifornia.

I'm procrastinating from life. I stand here in the apple store downtown Waikiki eager to share my new Hawai'ian life with sand in my hair & ... well sand everywhere actually! I'm hungry & my stomach is calling for bread sticks but it can wait. Today I got LOST!

I'll start with Friday. It is the day of my trip around O'ahu; a chance for me to get out of the busy-ness (business??) that is Honolulu & a chance to make new friends also. Jack is our guide (not from LOST) - he is camp as hell but very informative. The tour involves circling the island from the East coast, direct through the center via the pineapple plantation & up to the North shore, which is famous for it's surfing competitions. We are 3 Brits, 1 Brazilian, 2 Japanese & 2 French (it appears the German's do not wish to visit Hawai'i). Our first stop is a park in Waikiki where Jack flails around & makes a few digs about the correct pronunciation of certain English words. Silly American 'slang'. From here we make our way up to a surf beach that the locals favour, then onto windward O'ahu, eventually making our way to a beautiful beach. I bond with the British & then help in the search for their lost wedding ring - oh noes! It isn't found - bad omenmuch?? We spend a fair bit of time here, playing with the 'football' & then searching for the ring before adventuring through the middle of the island, destination: sunset. We pass the historic town of Haleiwa (where everything new has to be made in the 'historic' style, such as McDonalds.), make a quick stop to visit some washed up green sea turtles & then enjoy a Hawai'ian sunset with cameras, pineapple tops & frisbees. The day ends but myself, Brazil & Japan #1 make plans for tomorrow (today, Saturday).

Saturday. The plan is to climb an intense looking volcano and then head onto the number #1 snorkelling spot in O'ahu. It is extremely hot however, so we opt out of the climb & opt in for the reef snorkel. By now we are 5, joined by Maria Spain/America & Alex Russia (the first I have ever met). It doesn't quite match up to Great Barrier (obviously) but it is still super fun stalking sexy looking fish & not so fun trying to avoid another sea attack from the urchins (I think it was probably this - still in there!). I attempt to complete my tan before coming home (to make Emily jealous) before we finish up and head out for a roadtrip. This time we go in search of the LOST beach... and find it! Though a lot of searching is required. First, I stumble into the wrong camp (a private camp actually) and start snapping away thinking it is the LOSTies beach camp; it is not. A woman in the car park calls me over & inquires what I am up to - uh-oh! Using my innocent charm I manage to weedle directions to the actual LOST beach out of her & we head on our happy little way! Go figure, it's right around the corner from turtle beach. They aren't filming (finished up for season 5 I reckon) but I explore the camp and snap, snap, snap away. Maybe you'll see me in season 6? :)

And it's an aloha goodbye from me!
