Queenstown; Slightly Happier.

Well, hey hey lj, looks like you've had a bit of a makeover since last week!

I'm still in Queenstown and should be looking to stay until around about March time. Really it all depends how my job at the Kiwi & Birdlife park goes. I'm getting on okay, I think they all like me and I'm having fun with the birds (the flying type that is). I've presented 'meet the keeper' a few times and that went mostly okay. Luckily it takes place in the dark in the nocturnal kiwi house, so all is well! I am however, still dreading this darn conservation show. I'm currently working as the assistant in the shows, being involved in collecting the birds and stuff but eventually they'll be looking to make ME present... and well, the audience has been known to reach well over 100 people in the Summer. Hmm. All I can say is that I'll try my best. The experience I'm getting here is too good to take for granted.

Last week my friend Daunte came to town. My first friend to do so!!! So that helped to restore some sanity. For 3 or 4 days I was out everynight, drinking out of teapots, putting shot glasses in my eyes (empty ones), luging, walking up hills & painting sauce moustaches. Luging was fun, though I expected it to be longer! Really, it's just like go-karting but easier, and you face the prospect of falling off a very, very, VERY big hill if you're that eager. I wasn't but I did crash once or twice. I still feel like I haven't done anything too extreme. Sandboarding could have been dangerous but I mean extreme EXTREME like jumping out of a plane. Why do I even wanna do that!? I'm not really sure but am insistent that it has to be done soon.

I'm seriously starting to run out of money, all those lovely notes that I saved up for so long... spent on cereal & chocolate! Maybe a bit of downtime will be good. I'm quite happy with my new walkman (yes yes old school) and books, and by the time I get bored of them maybe another friend will be in town. Laters world.
