Um...hello again...
Hi everyone. Sorry for my loooooooooong abscence on LJ. Real life rose like a storm and washed me out to sea.
I've had a lot going on. Lot of work, lot of getting used to the cat (vice versa), a lot of school, and a lot of family drama. Also, a urinary tract infection.
The cat's name is Viola (after the heroine of The Twelfth Night). I somewhat regret naming her that as my family is confused as to why I named her after an instrument. I wanted to name her after a Shakespearian heroine, and that was the only one I could think of at the time that I liked. She's very friendly, vocal and loves to eat and play. She's chubby now. She hates to be held, which sucks 'cause I like holding her. I have a ton of pictures, and as soon as I can figure out how I'll post some here. She also sleeps with me, but will wake me at three in the morning to pet her. Then at four. And then continue to meow at me until I wake up. I've gotten used to it, I ignore her most times and she quiets down. For revenge I pick her up while she's asleep during the afternoon. Tony adores her--he's always taking pictures of her on his phone.
Tony and I are doing well--he's graduated and is looking for a career now. His mom adores my cat and comes over to play with her, which is very cute. Tony's taking the job hunt in stride, which is good.
My mom left her job at the VA for a job closer to home with better pay...and then she got fired two weeks later. For personality. Ouch. Would be more sympathetic except I kinda saw this coming. She's looking for a new job and had an interview yesterday.
My brother Rob and I have grown much closer as a result of therapy and both of us dealing with depression. It's pretty awesome to have him around. He comes over to hang out but is still allergic to Viola.
The rest of my family and I aren't always on the best of terms. I tend to isolate and they can't understand. It's complicated.
I sorely miss Rach and Gen. I tried to get time off for work but couldn't yet. Still trying. I really need to come visit.
