Well... hum. I got done with my crazy evil project last night--Kerry and I were literally down to the wire and were like 20 min. late for our presentation due to a combination of working on it right up to the moment we took the podium, getting stuck behind both a bus and a trolley (an unfortunate affliction we like to call busntrolleyitis), and the fact that they were having a huge track meet or something right in the middle of finals and thus blocked off half the campus' parking for the event (seriously, UPenn, WTF?!).
Our code didn't completely work, but for something I spit out in an hour (with hand-made diagrams using touch pad rather than mouse because I was on a laptop) while debugging our code, the presentation wasn't too bad, especially in the light of some of the presentations that went up the day before (being a foreigner is no excuse for horrible and illegibly cluttered slides, people! >:0 Grrr). Some of these presentations seriously
rocked the fug. Big time. But not everyone's code worked and a lot of people focused too much on making a cool program and not enough on the wireless aspect (something we made sure NOT to do), so I think we may be okay. I may get a B yet!
When we got home, we ordered Mediterranean food from a place we haven't been before. I wasn't expecting there to be that much food o_0 And we were both really expecting to be hungrier but... we just weren't that hungry (in spite of me not eating much in our long overnight coding session). I was expecting to be more happy, energetic,... more everything, really. I was going to WoW binge and work on my rep for my pretty epic purple kitty mount, but instead I passed out on the couch while putting away my laptop (ironically, in order to go to bed). It was really anticlimactic :/ Maybe I'll not fall asleep so early tonight and at least get some housework done >_<
Just as well that I got that couple of hours of sleep, however, since we had to wake up early (5am?!) so I could drive Kerry to the airport before work (she's actually going to Boston for Kerry!Mike's friend's wedding). I think I'll stay put myself this weekend, since I don't like leaving the apartment completely empty and I have, as mentioned earlier, housework and such to sort out. I didn't get to return that UPS in time, so now I have to figure out what to do with it... and figure out what I actually need for Yggdrasil so I order the right one this time.
Today, I get to try and take the wheels off my bike myself and drive to the bike store myself to get it re-adjusted (this is actually a little complicated with the back gear, so I think I'm rightfully frightened). The back brakes aren't centered and the chain apparently actually does rub the frame a bit when the front derailleur's got it on the big gear. Kerry!Mike told Kerry there was some kind of pin or something for adjusting that sort of thing, so I'm hoping that's fixable. No need to be putting dents and scratches in Hermes before he's even old yet ;_;
This also means I'm picking up the pile of stuff we put on hold. My poor credit card ;_; But I do rather think the fingerless gloves I'm picking up are cool <3 And my
helmet, even if it appears to have a small chinese character slapped all over it (and I actually don't know what that character is, either, so I may have to try looking that up once I get it... it's ridiculously tiny and I think serves as some gold dots which you can't even see in the picture). I still think they should make a helmet with swept-back horns--that would be fun :D I'm actually picking up a lot of stuff... I hope I make it there in one piece and that they can fix my bike easily. And I hope I can put my bike back together when I get home ;_; Tricky wheels... I'm hoping I can try riding it around a little while Kerry's off in Boston to get used to riding again and perhaps bond a bit with Hermes :P For that price and all this trouble, it better really really love me!
And so now that I've got a bike, it's time for the shameless plug (I signed up the morning I bought Hermes, because this was what got me thinking I should try biking... that and that Kerry and Kerry!Mike are into it, anyway). I'm riding for
the ACS Bike-A-Thon this time, and they apparently use the same online system as the American Heart Association's Heart Walk, so if the site looks awfully familiar, that's why :) So there, can't say I didn't try to fund raise ^^;; But yeah, that entry fee (all $110 of it!) isn't helping my wallet either >_< Geez. Now,
go go go! XD
