Yes! Good Call -- Totally forgot about the Honk and Wave -- sigh -- good times.
Though I really hate that Tag Line -- "Marshfield -- our lives are your vacations" It's so smug, and not even really true. What does it mean? There's no disney world in Marshfield -- no Daytona Beach -- no climbing through the alps...Now, I know it's not meant to be taken literally, it's that whole mindset that our lives are better than other people's -- this stems from the fallacy that 70% think we are better than average All in all -- life sucks for everyone(but don't take me as a downer, you can definetly have fun with it, I mean I do)
Well, I first read the line in Chang's deadjournal.
If I understand correctly, he meant it to mean that the number of people in Marshfield who can be classified as "the man" is significantly higher than the other surrounding towns. Although, the term "the man" in and of itself is subjective and loosely defined.
In my experiences, I think Chang is somewhat correct. Of all the crews of people I chilled with in high school, the Marshfield people definitely had more people that I considered "the man" than anyone else.
Although, I'm a little older and a little wiser now. Marshfield is no longer my true home I suppose. It's just a place I visit in the summer and a few select times during the winter.
However, I will always hold a place in my heart for Marshfield
I'm not really sure where I was going with this. I guess what I was trying to get at was the fact that when I beeped the horn and waved the other way I had memories of all the people in Marshfield that I considered the man.
